VISTA USERS / WINDOWS 7 and 8 USERS
Please make sure to REFRESH your web page to ensure you have the latest version of the PCO download Version 8.5
FOR ALL VERSIONS OF WINDOWS, please use this EXE, XP users all you have to do is download and install.
Those current members will no longer need the "MIC FIX" with this version.
With windows 8 every brand of computer is different,
EVERY BRAND WILL RUN AND ACT DIFFERENTLY. I suggest if your not computer savory you do NOT JUMP INTO Upgrading to windows 8 until Microsoft has it out of beta.
PCO will work with WINDOWS 8......... An Error might appear if you do not do the compatibility mode.,explained below but will appear only once. You should have no problems once in PCO, you should NOT need a mic to enter a room
Virus scanners, Might try to block the new exe, please watch for that, if you can not download after clicking allow and run, please turn off your virus scanners to download and install. Once you have that done, turn them back on. Allow again if it asks you.
How to Install :
Click the download
CLICK RUN ( not save) as it will install where it should be.
Follow the PCO directions. On the final box click OK
WINDOWS 8, the smart screen, after downloading and when you are about to install, it will try to block, you need to make sure you tell the smart screen to ALLOW and RUN PCO. If you do not, it wont install.
Before clicking on the PCO ICON to run into PCO, TAKE your time. You will need to do the same compatibility settings as in WINDOWS 7 AND VISTA AND WINDOWS 8
Right click on the PCO icon on desktop , then properties then compatible mode....check use xp service pack 2 or 3 and check run as administrator too. MAKE SURE ALL USERS BOX AND RUN AS ADMIN IS CHECKED TOO, this should be on the bottom of this section, you will need to change it in both places, On the bottom is a ALL USERS Option, you click that, and it opens to another BOX where you MUST do the compatibility changes again. ( if you do not have this option don't worry) FAILURE TO CHANGE THE COMPATIBLITY MODE WILL RESULT IN YOU NOT GETTING INTO THE SITE, and a RUNTIME ERROR
CLICK OK AND APPLY.
DOUBLE check to make sure you did the above, if you haven't you will get another runtime error.
64 BIT users. You will get an error every time on the log in box.. Just click the X and re-log in. Ignore the 64 bit error.
FOR EXISTING MEMBERS ONLY, NEW MEMBERS DO NOT NEED TO DO THIS: ( BELOW)
If you didn't save your names and passwords you will have to retype them into the log in box.
If you want to save your user names and Buddy list,,,, follow the directions below
TO SAVE your INFO: SAVE THIS BEFORE INSTALLING OR REMOVING THE OLD PCO.
1. Go to C drive, Program Files
2. Find PCO7.2 folder
3. Open the folder and Find The Data Folder, Open that up
4. Look for the User.DAT File, right click and save to desk top. ( this is your stored names and passwords)
5. Look for the Bud.dat, right click and save to desk top. (this is your buddy list)
Install the new PCO software. BEFORE LOGGING ON.. you will copy both of those files back into the NEW PCO DATA FOLDER. It will ask you to replace the file there, you click yes. They must be put in the DATA FOLDER in the NEW PCO.
Delete the copies from your desk top after you have logged in to confirm it has saved. Your log in box should have all of your names if this was done correctly.
If you make a new password:
IMPORTANT PASSWORDS MUST be 4 or more characters!! if they make one under 4 they will lock them selves out of pco.
The new EXE will have a different file name (PARADISE 8.5) to avoid conflicts and issues with people signing on the wrong software.
